Actors Theatre: Humana Festival of New American Plays

Hosted by Actors Theatre for over 40 years, the Humana Festival of New American Plays is a unique showcase of fresh work from talented playwrights across the country.  The theatre wanted to specifically highlight a handful of these brand-new productions with a grip of videos via a social media campaign.  Promoting plays that have never been staged before and are, at times, still being revised is tricky, to say the least.  Collaborating once again with Actors' marketing department, I pitched a simple, elegant, budget-friendly solution that would scale stylistically across all of the plays. Using juxtaposition and symmetry (or intentional lack thereof) the videos play out with imagery that references an individual play along with evocative bits of dialogue, all edited to a beat or sound element that connects to a theme of that particular production.  The brief, uncomplicated videos were intended to serve as just enough of a tease to entice the viewer to check out the newest theatrical offerings featured at the festival.
